The evolution of casino game providers
When it comes to the early development of online gaming providers, Microgaming was essentially the company that started it all. But then there were a number of other players who got their foot in the door at the ground level of the industry, and it didn’t take long before UK gamblers were becoming accustomed to them. We’re talking about those developers that have become household names in the industry, such as NetEnt (then known as Net Entertainment), Playtech, and CryptoLogic.
Microgaming
The first online casino software company which would provide casinos with the first virtual ver-sions of classic casino games such as blackjack and roulette was Microgaming. They began by launching their own casino as a platform to promote their catalogue of games. However, they later decided to focus their efforts on working with other casinos. Rather than focus on one type of game, Microgaming produced a range of various game genres from the beginning, including the first table blackjack and roulette games and the first virtual 3- and 5-reel video slots. In 1998, they also developed a game called Cash Splash, which was significant as it was the first progressive slot. They have since produced some of the most well-known online progressive slots in the indus-try.
CryptoLogic
CryptoLogic began by developing encrypted communications protocols and other related security platforms. In 1995, they expanded into the software industry with the intent to uncover a viable platform that would allow them to test specific security platforms and parameters. They also established an online casino software arm of the company they called WagerLogic. While the name WagerLogic can still be seen on online casinos today, it was acquired by Amaya Gaming in 2012.
Playtech
Playtech was founded in 1999 when it recruited a number of experts from various different fields, including software engineering and multimedia. It wasn’t until 2001, however, that they released their first batch of online casino games, quickly establishing themselves as one of the major game developers in the casino industry. In 2003, Playtech was the very first online casino game brand to offer live dealer games.
NetEnt
NetEnt was established in 1996, before Playtech and a short time after Microgaming. The Scandinavian company, with its headquarters based in Stockholm, provides a wide range of casino games covering popular genres such as slots, table games, and bingo. They are especially known for their 3D animated slots and their NetEnt Touch mobile casino gaming platform.
Developments in the new Millennium
The importance of these four providers should not go underestimated. After all, without them, there would be no online casinos. Going one step further, in the majority of cases, the quality of the software is a reflection of the quality of the casino. After the ‘90s Internet explosion, most game developers established their very own casinos. NetEnt started CasinoDomain.com, CryptoLogic brought us InterCasino, Playtech introduced us to Club Dice, and Microgaming launched Gaming Club.
As the quality of the software improved, and as more and more people wanted a piece of the action, these companies started to create more casinos and licensed them out- either the software, the casino, or both. There were more than 3,000 casinos in just a few short years, with the majority of them being run with one licensing jurisdiction and a single software provider.
Each of the providers offered a different approach towards their operators and their players. These providers were willing to pull the reigns on operators that were less than honest, but it was an issue for them as these operators were responsible for a significant income stream, so many were less than keen on pulling the reigns too hard.
It wasn’t until the 2010s that casinos could host games from multiple providers such as Quickfire. The structure transitioned from Microgaming, Playtech, and NetEnt-only casinos to mega-slot, multi-platform casinos. It was a time when players had higher expectations and competition increased. Each of these factors was a driving force behind the transition.
Online slot providers
Mr Green works with some of the biggest game developers in the industry, such as NetEnt, Play’n GO, Quickspin, and Yggdrasil. We also work with smaller studios, so alongside the games you will have heard of, you’ll find a number of titles that you’ll be playing for the very first time. Whether you’re a casual slots player or you take your slot playing more seriously, you’ll have the opportunity to play to whatever level you’d like to. So get spinning those reels, and you never know: luck just might come your way on your very first spin.
We have literally hundreds of slots available for you to choose from. Such classics as Thunderstruck and Starburst combine with the very latest releases, giving you the option to stay as busy as you like, no matter your playing style and tastes. Whether you enjoy fantasy games, colourful characters, branded slots from the world of entertainment, or are more partial to action-adventure, there’s be something here for you.
We’re continually adding to our selection of games, so make sure to keep checking back for the latest releases. When it comes to playing the slots, excitement and aesthetics both matter, and both are guaranteed when you play our selection of slots.
While each of the providers we mentioned are responsible for developing our slots, each slot provider has its own unique style, and the more experienced player can tell them apart.
If you know the kind of games that each provider creates, you can quickly find those that appeal to you the most without having to check every single slot on the site. It might take some time for you to be able to do that, but you’ll have fun getting used to all the developers and enjoying their amazing games in the process. Some offer state-of-the-art graphics, others specialise in modern video slots, and some create classic slots with 2D graphics and several pay lines. The great thing about these unique styles is that each player can find the one (s) that aligns with their playing preferences.
Along with the big-name slot providers, there are other less-popular providers that release a few dozen slots each year. That doesn’t mean that their slots are inferior, it just means that there’s less hype around them. Each of these providers offers games that are worth playing, and, as mentioned, each has its own style. Novomatic slots, for example, often take you on a journey to far-away lands through its Asian- and Egyptian-themed casino games.
Progressive jackpot providers
Progressive jackpot slots are a big draw in the world of online casinos, attracting hordes of players eager to claim the huge prizes on offer. Depending on both the provider and the game, the jackpot could be anything from £100 to millions of pounds. There’s no shortage of game providers offering generous jackpots, either.
We’ve built a strong reputation in the arena of progressive jackpots, as a number of our slots have the largest progressive jackpot you’ll find in any online casino, including Mega Fortune and Mega Moolah. These slots aren’t simply worth thousands, but potentially millions, which explains why so many of our players around the world count them among their favourite slots.
Casino online game provider Playtech is one of the suppliers which has developed a number of slots with enormous jackpots. The biggest jackpots, however, come from NetEnt and Microgaming. The latter’s Mega Moolah holds the current record for the largest-ever payout. Mega Fortune isn’t far behind, either, in second place. Other titles, such as Hall of Gods, Major Millions, and Arabian Nights further illustrate why these two providers have built such an impressive reputation in the industry.
The ‘Jackpots’ section on our site includes numerous progressive slots, including the record-breaking slot, Mega Fortune. These branded slots often display familiar themes, such as Naked Gun for our comedy movie buffs, and Microgaming’s Game of Thrones for fans of contemporary television.
Table game providers
If you love traditional casino games, but would prefer to play them from the comfort of your own home rather than go through all the fuss of getting ready to go out to your nearest brick-and-mortar casino, our online table games are for you. Different providers specialise in different games, and while we offer games from the best in the business, we also offer a selection from far smaller developers. We have an entire suite of classic games available, including roulette, blackjack, baccarat, and poker. You can enjoy all the games without ever having to get up from your armchair. Plus, thanks to our mobile games, you can enjoy our electronic table games on the move. All you need is an account, an Internet connection, and a smartphone, and you can access games from the very best table game providers, including IGT and NetEnt.
Roulette
In addition to choosing between simulators and live games, in our roulette section you'll be presented with a choice of American, European, and French versions of roulette. Then there are more unique versions from providers such as Playtech, NetEnt, and Microgaming.
NetEnt is known for providing some of the more popular roulette games. They offer high-quality American, European, and French roulette, as well as a number of games in the Professional Series, which feature stunning graphics, a Quick Spin feature, and special bets.
Playtech also offers several variations of roulette, including American, European, Professional, and the Premium Series, which offers extra customisation offers and enhanced graphics. It’s Microgaming, however, that is perhaps the leader of roulette games, certainly when it comes to selection. It offers tens of titles, including classic games, multiplayer variations, and the stunning Gold Series, which comes with 3D graphics.

Poker game providers
There are a number of different providers that specialise in developing poker games. Each online casino game provider from the big three- Microgaming, Playtech, and NetEnt- offer one or more variants.
IGT, however, is also a big player in the world of table poker. We offer IGT’s Double Bonus Poker, Double Double Bonus Poker, and Triple Play Draw Poker Multi-hand, as well as Oasis Poker Professional Series from NetEnt.
Essentially, while we ensure to make available only those games we’re confident our players will love, each provider offers a different overall experience, such as the payout or the overall enjoyment of the game.
Live casino providers
There are numerous options available to keep up-to-date with what their customers want, such as a live casino platform. Like the majority of casinos, Mr Green calls on third-party live casino providers to offer this service. Some may choose to debate the best, but Evolution Gaming is the name that is most often cited. They have the widest game selection, offer a fantastic player experience, and provide the highest-quality streaming. Then there are those suppliers that focus more on niches, such as NetEnt. NetEnt is considered the most innovating provider of live casino games, due to its extensive use of green screen technology.
The great thing about Mr Green working with multiple software providers is that it gives the opportunity to provide a more extensive table selection, which means more games and more dealers. Further, each game offers different tables, settings, and features.
All the classics
As you may have suspected, the most popular live dealer games are baccarat, blackjack, and roulette. A number of other games have been added to these standards, however, including variations of those games you know and love, such as the roulette variations previously mentioned. It isn’t just the fact that they’re new that makes these games so special, but also that they offer additional ways to win, thanks to the side bets inspired by slot games.
At Mr Green we offer our players essentially three live casinos experiences, with software from NetEnt, Evolution Gaming, and Authentic Gaming, three of the biggest names in the industry. Each game is of the highest quality, with numerous customisable features and smooth visuals. While there are significant design differences that exist between the three platforms, they complement one another another well, which enables us to offer you one of the best live casino experiences around.
Mr Green live casino providers
Evolution Gaming offers multi-wheel roulette games, which is a great way of experiencing what remains one of the more popular casino games. Each of the three platforms offers numerous useful features and customisable options. From detailed game stats and multiple camera views, to bet behind options, hot and cold numbers, and game history, it’s all here. Evolution Gaming provides the largest game selection and the most amount of tables. Picking up an EGR award for Best Casino Software Provider each year since its inception in 2010, Evolution provides a number of innovative variants, such as Blackjack Party and Live Immersive Roulette. They have also provided such games as Live Caribbean Stud Poker and Live Three Card Poker.
From NetEnt, there is a choice of blackjack and roulette tables, which complements the overall game selection. The authentic style and unique settings of its live games sets NetEnt apart from the others.
Finally, there's Authentic Gaming that provides Mr Green with several roulette tables in addition to streams from well-known UK and European casinos, such as London’s Instance Casino International.
Mobile-optimised game providers
As we’ve seen, not all casino game providers are created equally, and that certainly holds true with regards to games that work great on both desktop and mobile devices. Some providers are less technologically advanced than they should be when it comes to understanding their audience and only offer games accessible on Flash technology. This means that some mobile players can’t then play the games that have been excluded.
In fact, there are only a small amount of suppliers that are head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to developing mobile-optimised games. NetEnt and Yggdrasil are far and away the best providers that cater to mobile players. NetEnt was a leader in the mobile gaming space as it was the first to develop Java-based slots, which meant that their games ran more easily on mobile devices. Of course, now it uses HTML5 to accommodate the latest iOS software. NetEnt also made an effort to ensure that each of their games has been converted to HTML5, and Yggdrasil uses their own technology (iSense+ 2.0) to make sure that their games are seamlessly working across all devices.
As well as games developers converting Flash games to HTML5, there are studios adopting an entirely new approach to mobile gaming. For instance, StormCraft Studios, which belongs under the Microgaming umbrella, released a slot that changed the entire face of mobile gaming with their first slot game. That game was Fortunium, which you can enjoy playing with Mr Green. The game enables you to play the slot in portrait mode on their smartphones. This means you can play the game with just one hand, as opposed to having to use both hands when your phone is in landscape mode.
Of course, any mobile user wants to have a wide range of games from which to choose. The Mr Green app provides a whole host of mobile-optimised games and is available on both iOS and Android. In fact, Mobile Operator of the Year ranks among our many awards to date. One of the main advantages of playing slots on our mobile casino are the multiple bonuses and promotions we offer. We offer bonuses exclusive to our mobile casino players, so if that’s you, make sure that you check your account on your mobile device on a regular basis. After all, you wouldn't want to miss out.
